We love working with old cutlery and are very passionate about bringing it back to life.
It has also been very interesting researching the origin of the spoon ring, which dates back to the 17th century.
Servants could not afford to buy wedding rings made from precious metals, so they would steal the silverware from the manor houses where they worked and have it turned into rings.
People could tell who they worked for by the crests and initials engraved on their newly transformed rings, so the culprits were easily spotted.

Convicts transported from England to Australia and Tasmania in the early 1800s, were convicted of such crimes as stealing silver spoons.
A gesture of love could have seen them banished across the seas!
Like all wedding rings the spoon ring marks true love, commitment and responsibility...
